poem book review no. 4

A review of Eleanor and Park by Rainbow Rowell

Eleanor met Park

On the bus

To highschool

Misfits linked together

Through 80s music on a walkman,

Xmen comics slowly paged through,

And hands (the hand part is good, you guys)

Eleanor ‘s home life is

The most

Messed up shit

And Park fights prejudice

Inside his own head

Rowell caught teenage hormones

(In a jar like fireflies)

And stirred them together in a cauldron

With a batch of falling hopelessly and certainly in (first?) Love

To create her ink

That covers the pages

This book will break your heart
