Poem 6 for 2015

Aubade

he
crept in this morning
so early
from
work
sinking
beneath comforters
and sleep mask
blocking dawn’s arrival

dear sun, won’t you
slow down for me?
halt behind clouds
and horizon
pause before
cell phone alarms
announce
workday’s return.

he is so very tired.

Today’s prompt was to write an Aubade, which is usually about mourning the parting of lovers at dawn.
